Barbara Kruger
American conceptual artist working in text and image, on typography, scale and how public language addresses a viewer.
About Barbara Kruger
I work with words and pictures — found images, direct address, type that will not let you look away politely. Scale does most of the arguing: a phrase changes completely when it covers a wall or a floor rather than a page. My method is editing far more than inventing, cutting a sentence back until only the pressure is left. I talk about how images persuade, how design carries an argument, and how a viewer becomes a subject.
