Whale Rider put me on the beach at Whangara as Porourangi; Fear the Walking Dead kept me on American sets for years as Travis Manawa. Between those two poles I've moved between Aotearoa stories and studio productions without giving either one up. What I like talking about is how Maori actors carry a culture into frame, and the unglamorous business of staying employed in this trade for thirty years.
